Retreat Highlights

We couldn’t have painted or lived the experience more fully with Nurdebof. We repeated last year’s retreat, this time adding an extra day to make the most of her talent and incredible energy, and it was the best decision.

We were a small group of women, all eager to dive into abstract painting and let go, floating between emotions and colours, expressing not just what we saw, but what we felt in each moment. Nuria surprised us with hand-picked materials and huge canvases to help us face our fears. What a challenge!

We painted in every corner of the beautiful villa that hosted us, in the markets of Famara, by the Charco Verde, and on the white sand beaches of Caletón Blanco. And we had the privilege of meeting Rufina Santana in person and hearing her speak about her art in her own gallery.

It was a true hug for the soul, you could see it in the stunning final pieces everyone took home, and in our farewell brunch filled with love.

All we can say is: we’re doing it again next spring!

Nurdebof

Nurdebof is a Spanish abstract artist born from the premise of experimenting with her own creativity, resulting from deep introspection. She began to explore what today is her natural environment: abstract art, where she becomes merely an instrument of the present.

Moved and excited by the landscape, she has managed to create works that have been exhibited in several group exhibitions. However, it has been her two trips to Lanzarote that have marked a before and after in her artistic practice, culminating in her first solo exhibition.

In the artist's words: "The collection is a visual statement of the island's majesty. It is a visual journey through the force of nature and convey its beauty. These canvases are my way of sharing the extraordinary symphony of colors and shapes that Lanzarote offers."

For Nuria, sharing comes naturally, she has been conducting workshops with the same passion and care she puts into each canvas. Now, she returns to Lanzarote to lead her first retreat at The Sun Collective, the "Abstract Art Retreat."
