Whether you were a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, Nuria’s guidance helped participants discover the freedom of abstract painting while enjoying the tranquility of the island. The retreat blended art sessions with exploration, including breathtaking outdoor practices inspired by Lanzarote’s dramatic landscapes.
From intuitive exercises to hands-on workshops, each day was a step towards loosening up, experimenting with colors, and creating art that truly reflected your emotions and vision. Set in a serene villa, with local cuisine and plenty of time to connect with fellow artists, it was a weekend designed for creativity, relaxation, and inspiration.

Waking up every day to the warmth of a sun that shines bright all year round, so you can capture it on paper. The lessons will be dynamic, tailored to each student's pace, all amidst nature to draw inspiration from it.
The goal during this art retreat is to provide a place for sharing knowledge in a relaxing environment where you can immerse into painting without worrying about anything else that usually traps us during our daily lives, so you can unlock the abstract painter within you.

Beyond painting alongside Nurdebof every day, you'll also have free time to relax, to practice by your own or to discover Lanzarote island and share your experiences with other artists by the sea.
Day 1
Welcome to Lanzarote
Your retreat begins from the airport to the villa, where the beauty of Lanzarote starts to unfold. Settling into your room will make it all feel real. You'll have some time to relax, and after a brief welcome, we'll enjoy a special lunch to get to know each other. In the afternoon we´ll enjoyr an abstract workshop guided by Nurdebof.
Day 2
Abstract lesson and the island west
In the morning we'll enjoy a workshop at the villa with Nurdebof. After lunch, we'll head to the west of the island for an outdoor practice session and to watch the sunset in a black sand beach.
Day 3
The island north and Cesar Manrique
In the morning we'll explore the north of the island, painting at two beautiful spots and having a picnic lunch on a dreamy fisherman village. Enjoy a afternoon relaxing, reading or diving deep in your art till our farewell dinner at the villa.
Day 4
Departure and byebyes
We'll wake up on our last day for a final farewell and closing session with a georgous breakfast. We'll pack our bags and get ready for the transfer to the Cesar Manrique Airport of Lanzarote.
Nurdebof
Nurdebof is a Spanish abstract artist born from the premise of experimenting with her own creativity, resulting from deep introspection. She began to explore what today is her natural environment: abstract art, where she becomes merely an instrument of the present.
Moved and excited by the landscape, she has managed to create works that have been exhibited in several group exhibitions. However, it has been her two trips to Lanzarote that have marked a before and after in her artistic practice, culminating in her first solo exhibition.
In the artist's words: "The collection is a visual statement of the island's majesty. It is a visual journey through the force of nature and convey its beauty. These canvases are my way of sharing the extraordinary symphony of colors and shapes that Lanzarote offers."
For Nuria, sharing comes naturally, she has been conducting workshops with the same passion and care she puts into each canvas. Now, she returns to Lanzarote to lead her first retreat at The Sun Collective, the "Abstract Art Retreat."

Is this artistic retreat available to all levels?
Yes, it is suitable for painters of all levels.
What art supplies do I need for the workshop?
A detailed list of art materials recommended by artist Nurdebof will be provided upon booking before the retreat. Masking tape, A3 hartboards and paper towels are included.
What features does the rooms have?
The private room offers a comfortable space, ideal for relaxation and reflection. It's equipped with a cozy bed, ample storage for your belongings, and is decorated to create a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.
The shared double room features two single beds, storage space for personal belongings, and is designed to provide comfort and privacy for both guests.
All our rooms includes cleaning service, sheets, towels and toiletries.
In the villa there is a luminous art studio, a swimmin pool and a 24h available well-fitted kitchen. Guests will find a refrigerator, kitchenware, a microwave, a toaster, a tea and coffee maker.
Are all meals included during the retreat?
It includes 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 3 dinners, all meticulously prepared by our private chef. We cater to gluten-free diets and other allergies or dietary intolerances upon request.
Can the retreat cater to specific dietary requirements?
Regular, vegetarian, vegan, diabetic, gluten-free, and lactose-free diets are catered for. Please get in touch in advance so we can discuss your dietary requirements and plan them with our personal chef.
Is the art retreat available to guests with limited mobility?
Unfortunately, the retreat venue and trips are not well suited to host people with limited mobility.
What language is used during the art workshop and other activities?
This retreat is available in English. We are also fluent in Spanish so don´t worry if English is not your first language.
What should I pack?
The weather in Lanzarote is sunny and warm. You can expect average highs of 24°C during the day that drop to around 17°C at night. Lanzarote enjoys very mild winters and warm summers, and very little rain throughout the year. It is a windy island so bring a coat with you to protect from it.
Please pack appropriate clothing, sunscreen, a swimsuit, a beach towel, flip flops, a coat for evenings and nights, comfortable shoes, a sun hat and sunglasses, personal care items, and any personal medication you might need.
Is transportation included?
The retreat include airport transfers from/to Lanzarote Airport at prearranged times, and excursions trips in private transportation.
Host tip: Given Lanzarote's limited public transportation and costly taxi services, we suggest teaming up with fellow retreat participants for car-sharing if you wish to explore the island during our retreat's free time. We're here to help facilitate these arrangements with you.
How does the payment process work for reserving a spot in the retreat?
To ensure a smooth and transparent reservation process, here's a breakdown of our payment system:
- To secure your place in the retreat, a 100 € payment is required. Once your spot is reserved, we will reach out via email with additional details about the retreat. We recommend holding off on your flight booking until the retreat is guaranteed, as this is subject to a minimum participant requirement.
- Once the retreat is guaranteed, we will notify you by email and recommend that you proceed with your flight bookings.
- Retreat payment. The remaining balance for the retreat is due 45 days before the start date. We will send you a reminder a few days prior to this deadline for the remaining payment.
Will I receive a full refund if the retreat is cancelled?
Yes, absolutely. If the retreat is canceled due to force majeure events or circumstances out of The Sun Collective and/or artist´s control, we will let you know as soon as possible, refund the total cost of the retreat and help you find another great holiday option.
Participants are recommend to purchase travel, medical, and cancellation insurance for protection against any circumstances that might require cancellation or change of travel arrangements.

Once your complete payment is processed, if you need to cancel:
- If you cancel up to 45 days before the retreat, you will receive a full refund of your reservation fee.
- If you cancel between 44 and 30 days before the retreat, you will receive 50% of the total amount you paid.
- Unfortunately, if you cancel within 29 days of the retreat, we cannot offer a refund.
To protect yourself against any potential need for cancellation or changes in travel plans, including no-shows, medical emergencies, or travel disruptions, we highly recommend to purchase travel, medical, and cancellation insurance.
Please ensure your insurance covers trip cancellation and interruption. We advise carefully reviewing your insurance policy to understand the coverage details and claims process. Remember, securing suitable insurance is your responsibility, as The Sun Collective does not partner with any insurance providers.
If I want to extend my trip to Lanzarote, where can I stay?
We sincerely recommend looking for a room at Pitaya Coliving in Arrecife, a place with unique energy co-livers. If you prefer something on your own, we suggest searching for apartments in Costa Teguise, a well-located town close to the sea.
